Satanic Celebratory Holidays - Luperci Priestess February 15th Lupercalia by Succubus Astrid

Satanic Celebratory Holidays

On February 15th Lupercalia is celebrated, though thought to have begun on the 13th in Ancient Pagan Rome. In fact, the February 14th modern Valentine's Day is suspected as being an offshoot of this Pagan Roman Holiday of Lupercalia since the 14th was part of the celebratory days. Festivities began with the sacrifice of a goat by Luperci Priests, with the beast's blood and milk used as symbols of purification and cleansing.

During the festival the Luperci Priests wore scantily clad skins of wolfs or goats and used these pelts to playfully and lightly whip those citizens of Rome possessing a desire to be made fertile by the ritual whipping. Pregnant women also sought after the blessing of the Luperci Priests knowing that their deliveries during the birthing of their infants would be successful and fruitful.

Lupercalia was a Pagan Roman Holiday stemming from the legends of the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus. These two twin brothers were found in a cave in Rome where they were suckled by a She-Wolf, so the story goes. "Lupus" means "wolf", hence the names of Lupercalia, Luperci Priests, and the cave of Lupercal on Palatine Hill, where Romulus and Remus were found.
